Tips & tricks for picky puppies

If you have a dog or a puppy that is a picky eater, it can be extremely frustrating finding something they like to eat. Here are the strategies and food selections we see most successful with picky eaters...

1. Try switching the flavor food. If you are feeding your dog dry food, wet food, or a mixture of both, keep in mind these foods come in a variety of flavors. Keep in mind, whenever switching food, especially dry food, your dog's stomach can be effected. To avoid this, try mixing the new food with the food the dog is currently used to. We recommend the Health Extension brand of food and the flavors we find most effective with picky puppies are Salmon Dry, Beef canned and Carolina Pork Skillet canned.

2.  Try separating the food. If the dog is not eating the dry and wet mixture, try offering the wet food in one dish and the dry food in another. Sometimes dogs also eat best out of shallow dishes or even off of a flat paper plate.
